2007-2008 NFL Standing Predictions
Just some of my quick predictions for the 07-08 NFL season! The depth is lacked, but more explaining will do throughout as the NFL season doesn’t start till September!
AFC East
1. New England Patriots (this is truly a no-brainer. Their offense is their defense, and Tom Brady is their quarterback.)
2. New York Jets (They were a playoff team last year. They will be this year.)
3. Buffalo Bills (Losman is finally getting his feet wet as the QB)
4. Miami Dolphins (Defense won’t be able to carry them, and neither will John Beck)
AFC North
1. Baltimore Ravens (theres no reason they should be lower. They instantly made their offense better over the offseason with the Mcgahee addition and Ray Lewis is determined.)
2.) Cincinnati Bengals (jailcats, losing Tory James, and look out for Carson Palmer. The first 2 were meant to be bad judgements.)
3.) Cleveland Browns (everyone is preaching that Brady will be a bust. He has the QB poise and the IQ, not to mention he’s dead sexy.)
4.) Pittsburgh Steelers (Lost their bruiser LB, head coach, only has 1 threatening wide out, and aren’t the same team from 2004-2006)
AFC South
1.) Indianapolis Colts (who else?)
2.) Tennessee Titans (Vince Young is unstoppable when he’s in the mode)
3.) Jacksonville Jaguars (QB situation. How are you going to fix it?)
4.) Houston Texans (Nothing new here.)
AFC West
1. Denver Broncos (they had a great offseason and Cutler can only get better..)
2. San Diego Chargers (one reason I have them 2nd: Norv Turner)
3. Oakland Raiders (um, they have to improve a bit over the team that’s last..)
4. Kansas City Chiefs (down, down, down!)
NFC East
1. Dallas Cowboys (more talent than the rest of their division)
2. Philadelphia Eagles (who? Oh yea, McNabb has to step up and have a big year or maybe Kevin Kolb will!)
3. New York Giants (no Tiki. Who is Brandon Jacobs?)
4. Washington Redskins (Campbell won’t be able to lead this team to the playoffs)
NFC North
1. Chicago Bears (the only downside is Rex Grossman)
2. Green Bay Packers (this team is bad, but still better than the Vikings or Lions)
3. Detroit Lions (their offense is a lot better than Minnesota’s)
4. Minnesota Vikings (Tavares Jackson is young and un-wise)
NFC West
1. St. Louis Rams (the sexiest offense in the whole NFL. They aren’t one to joke with)
2. Seattle Seahawks (they have a great QB and RB. Their defensive backs and Linebacker core is great too!)
3. San Fransisco 49ers (so they have an overpaid CB now. They still need veteran work!)
4. Arizona Cardinals (same song)
That was probably the worst thing you have ever read in your life. But thanks for taking the time to do it!

I actually think that was pretty good. The Dallas Cowboys have the best talent, but last year Philadelphia beat them with no McNabb, no Jevon Kearse, to put it simply – with less talent. Philedelphia always finds a way to hang in there and until they show they can’t win it, I would never count them 2nd. Also, I think Arizona is going to fight for their division title and be a surprise team. And even though St. Louis has a sexy offense, they sometimes find ways to lose games.
Thank you so much for the comment and compliment! i think Dallas is out to prove something this year. I mean the way they lost in the wildcard round to Seattle is heart aching (especially for Romo) and you can tell by the way he has been talking the past few months that he is ready to jump at a new beginning. If they get their team together for an added chemistry boost with their new hc in Wade Phillips then a division title could just be a portentous moment. but I do agree with you that the heart of the Eagles should never be belittled and im gonna add that Andy Reid knows how to prepare his players. as for STL, they have seemed to lose games because of their run defense more than anything and if their pass defense was a little more clutch last year, they would have made the playoffs (by holding off Seattle in those 2 nailbiters). I’m kinda taking the ‘believe it when i see it’ method with Arizona. They have been hyped up the past 2 years and havent matched their hype. but anything can happen in the NFC West.
Nice post. I think Miami is going to be better than that, but we will see. I was quite impressed and I would love to see more posts from you. I think this genre is dominated by males and I think it is awesome to see a girl’s perspective. keep ‘em coming!
Thanks! Just be sure to bookmark us! once everything is set up the way we have wanted, there should be daily posts. =) I’m glad you liked!
I am a Dallas fan and think they have the talent and depth. But I saw, basically, this same team host the Eagles for the division last year and lose to Garcia & Co. I’ve had to watch Andy Ried every year, besides the TO breakdown year, do more with his talent than any other coach has. There should of been a law against winning with Duce Staley as your starting RB and Freddy Mitchell, Todd Pinkston and James Thrash as your starting wide recievers. With Arizona I think it will be the new coach. With St. Louis I think it will the bad D. And as far as Seattle goes I don’t think you can trade 2 first round picks for Deion Branch and trade away Darrell Jackson for a 4th round pick and expect to be a winning organization for too much longer.
You basically have us in all the other knowledge areas, why do you want to take away from us one of the few things we know more about than you girls?
yea you’re right no matter how far behind the eagles seem to be in terms of talent they always find a way to win. I think they’re like the Oakland athletics of the nfl. They have a few good players, but when those guys get injured they always have serviceable back-ups to help out.
i have to agree w/ u about dallas…. i like there chances….most talented team in america and great depth, but i just think washington will finish better than philly…wash had a great off season…good running game, fast recievers and good db’s, but they will struggle against the run. and buffalo will be the worst team in nfl!!! no way they finish before miami…they loose holcomb, fletcher, spikes and willis mcgahee…? they go 2-14
wow do u have any idea what u r talking about? In the NFC west there is no way the rams will win…they cant win in that division with just offense, with a strong seahawks team and a improved 49ers team…id say its between the seahawks and 49ers for that division. Other than that id say i agree with all the others.
Good Predictions, only thing you have wrong here is NFC north I think. I dont think the Bears are gunna do that great next year, and I think that the Packers are a lot more than just a “bad” team, and you will definitely see it next year. Also, I think that you’re 100 percent wrong about the 49ers, the Rams arent all that great, and the 49ers improve every year, including the Packers, I think we will see these two teams in the playoffs.
[...] marks, indeed. Truly, I’ve gotten the idea to write thanks to two comments in my standings predictions post. No offense by them, but the undoubted love that is being given to the San Fransisco 49ers is [...]

I’m sorry to say but the Eagles will come in first this year. I’m not saying this because I’m an Eagles fan but because they are just simply more powerful than those teams. Eagles will finish 11-5 this year, but we will beat everyone in our division twice.
I really like the idea of you making an attempt, but then again, the attempt is weak. “Who is Bradon Jacobs?”, Arizona-”Same song”, and picking St. Louis because they are the “sexiest offense in the NFL” doesn’t really impress me as it appears your education of football might be limited to just the mainstream teams. Im sorry if I come off as offensive but if you feel inclined to respond, please include your paypal email address and a wager if youd like me to pick strength by division and we can go with your copy posted above…
Joe, not to sound rude or to insult your reading ability, but if you would have taken the time to read the post you would have seen that we, The Sports Chicks, are going to be discussing NFL standings for the next couple of months. Unfortunately, you didn’t catch that, nor caught onto the sarcasm of Brandon Jacobs. If I didn’t know who he was, how would I have known his name? Please, check out the rest of the sight before you judge my knowledge of football, because it you really dumb down yourself when you come with a comment like that. Thanks.
Rams–Super O, no D. Seattle–balanced on both sides. San Fran–Young, potentially explocive O, most improved D in the NFC West. Arizona–love the O, but must execute, D very questionable. If Seattle can sweep St.Louis Again and SPLIT one (at least)with SF, the West is theirs.St. Louis has to beat Seattle to take the west, San Fran needs to basically get over their hump against Arizona to have a chance, because Its been proven that they can hang with Seattle(healthy Hasselbeck and Alexander or not) and St. Louis, and they improved their D to cater to the offensive weaponry in the NFC West. So the NFC West is really up in the air this year, I’ll give the nod to Seattle(too much balance), with SF in a close second(St. Louis doesnt have the D and so what if their O is superb, Seattle’s and San Fran’s D’s will match up fairly well, and I dont think their O will have much TOP with the ball, considering Frank Gore and Shaun Alexander will be running it down their throats–I still love Steven Jackson tho and am knowing of what he’s capable of doing)Also you all forget about O-Lines(very important), and IMO SF has the best O-line(minus Kwame Harris) of the bunch, along with Seattle..but with all this talk about NFC West, you wont find any of these teams in the Super Bowl.I will say Carolina or New Orleans will represent the NFC this upcopming year(Seattle could, but we’ll see)..
Where is the nfc south in your predictions? There are 2 teams (New Orleans and Carolina) who have a legitimate shot at being in the superbowl, especially New Orleans. The 49ers are also a dangerous team and will make waves in the nfc west.
the NFC South completely left my mind. Anyway, I believe New Orleans will capitalize and win the division. they are an even stronger team than they were last season, and if Meacham can begin his rookie season being healthy, that raises their upside.
Concering the niners, I have a post about them on the front page.
NFC Championship Dallas Cowboys vs. N.O. Saints
(Possible spoiler Da Bears)
AFC Championship San Diego Chargers vs. Indy Colts
(Possible spoiler Broncos or Ravens)
Father time will finally catch up with the Pats.
The Eagles will loose peanut brittle McNabb midway thru season, but Reid always comes thru.
The 49ers look good but thier not thier just yet.
Schneider is questioning Gibbs, some morons are thier own worst enemy.
Look out for the Titans, Young is no fluke.
Atlanta? Doesn’t even matter if the Judge posts a bond for Vick.
Arizona? Aren’t we all tired of that song year after year?
Minnesota is gonna shock alot of people.
No more Tiki, Eli’s gonna hurt.
Rothelisburger damaged the noodle in the bike wreck.
It’ll be exciting
okay .. . eagles are beter than the cowboys. . .dont even try me. . .and without tiki the giants have rheuban drougns, a well developed RB from browns. more research kaitlyn it will help
cdonn, reading would surely help you understand. However, you apparently lack the ability to do so and you ignorantly feel obligated to tell me to go after more research while you’re the one who ignores the “will be breaking down more of the standings..” as the season goes on.
Cdonn,
Come on now, the Giants are imploding. We all saw it last season. They’re going start good and then they’re going to go flat. As for the Eagles, I have all the respect in the world for Andy Reid, but McNabb chokes…i.e. The last 5 minutes in the Superbowl. He just doesn’t have it.
But why take shots at Kaitlyn. How convenient for you to point out what you feel are difficiancies in thier calls without giving you own prognostications. Let me guess, your a cowboy hater? right. I don’t get it? I’m a Raiders fan myself, but Dallas has the best young talent in the NFC East right know. The Eagles are getting ready for the geriatic ward.
Search your feelings cdonn, you know it to be true…
Buffalo might be scary good just like the sabres. Lee evens will have another great year. Losman should have a great year too finally ready for the big time. willis was a bust he never really performed. the only questions marks on the team is CB. but they do have 2 up and comming safetys that might just save them. miami might be the worst team in the league. the offence line is horriable. and they keep losing recievers. jets might be pretty good this year. NE hard to say should be good. but eventually a team will have to fall
The superbowl
Pats and Eagles.
Even if the cowboys get to the postseason, Romo will slip and fumble the ball again. And he will sit on the ground and cry again. Thats just pathetic. And you do remember the eagles beat them twice last year.
horribly wrong the cardinals are a playoff team
I agree with it. i really think the cowboys have the most talented team in the nfc…dallas cowboys are going to win it all
steelers 4th place???….sorry but no way…2nd or third and maybe a wildcard, and cleveland will be in last place in the north again
Overall not bad, but there is no way I would place the 49ers 3rd in the NFC West.
Are U Crazy How can You Have The Steelers So Low There LBB Will Be Better Without Porter With The Additions Of Timmons And Woodley(Go Blue!)Big Ben Will Bounce Back When He’s Not Learning How To Ride A Bike. Willie Parker made The Pro Bowl!!!!!!!!!!! And Cedrick Wilson Is Stepping Out Of Ward’s Shadow Piont Made! Steelers Beat Saints In Super Bowl!!!!!!!!!!
IF the eagles were in the playoffs with mcnabb last year, the colts would of had to fight for their superbowl title. Threw out nfl history the cowboys have always had more talent yet the eagles always disipoint them. The eagles will be in the nfc champion game holding at least a 12-4 record playing eaither the saints or panthers from the south or the seahawks or 49ers from the west, i would say the bears and never forgeting the magic of farve and they do have the talent but the nfc east plays the nfc north and the bears will strugle as well as the packers. just look at the divisons and brake it down, ull see that im right. Althought there always is room for a team to upset
The Pats will win the East, but watch as Lynch and the Bills will challenge them! Did you forget that the bengal have Chad Johnson, T.J. Houshmandzadah, Carson Palmer, and Rudi Johnson? They also have great corners with O’Neal and Williams! They will beat out the Ravens in the north. The Jaguars have no QB problem. DelRio said its Leftwich all the way. With two great RBs and Matt Jones getting better, they will compete with Indy for that division. The Broncos may have had the best offseason and will own the West like nothing. They might just set a record for most interceptions in a season. Looks like Manning found his match. The Chargers had a great season last year. Everyone expects L.T. to be the best again, however no running back has lead the league in yards and touchdowns two years in a row since Jim Brown in 1959. In this day and age with so many elite runners, it is very improbable.I am sorry, but there is no way the raiders will be better than Larry Johnson and the Chiefs. Damon Huard had the second best passer rating in the NFL last season.
McNabb was on pace to throw for 30 touchdowns and 5,000 passing yards last year before the injury. He will take the east with no problem. I’ll tell you who Brandon Jacobs is. He is the Guy that will carry the Giants. He’ll have 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns. He is not the worry, it is Eli. 20 turnovers last year. He makes too many mistakes. The North is so bad no one cares, however the bears will win it because Rex will be much better. In the NFC west, switch the 49ers and the Rams, then it will look right. The Rams have no defense but an Indy-like offense that will keep them in the playoff race. Nate Clemons, and Micheal Lewis should keep the niners in games, but it will be Gore, Jackson and the YOUNG Alex Smith that will win them. Dont count on the Seahawks to lose it all, they made the second round of the playoffs last year will half a season from Alexander and only 12 games from Hasselbeck. However with the loss of Jackson, his weapons are limited. Good Job, except for missing the entire NFC South Division! I’ll do it for you. New Orleans will win it, but will have trouble doing it thanks to their very difficult schedule! Carolina will come in second. The Buccs will have a good year with Garcia at the controls. Atlanta will suck, but Norwood will show he is the future in Atlanta.
Denver will finally take out Indy in the playoffs and roll past Cincy in the AFC championship.
The #1 seed Eagles will beat the 49ers in the NFC Championship but will fall victim to Champ, Dre’ and Cutler’s high powered offense in the Super Bowl.
wheres the nfc south division?
Well, I’ll start with the NFC East.
The Cowboys have one of the best receiving cores with T.O. (O.D.) and Glenn. They have great depth at the RB position. But in order to say that their offensive depth with win the division, you need to look at the other teams defense. The Eagles have the best DB field in the division, and they have dedicated most of their off season to improving the run defense. If the Cowboys, with their great depth, couldn’t beat the Eagles ONCE last season, what makes you think that a more improved Philadelphia defense would suddenly give slack? The Cowboys defense hasn’t improved enough to challenge the Eagles offense.
The Giants- with or without Tikki, and with aging Toomer and Shockey- won’t be able to contend. Who are the Washington Redskins??
Eagles win the Division again, this time, instead of 5-1, it will be 6-0.
NFC North
I agree. In the superbowl, whenever he was under pressure, Rex threw up the ball and it was intercepted several times. Also, they’ve lost key defensive players like Ian Scott and Lance Briggs. They will be worse than last year, but good enough to win their division.
NFC West
I think the two teams who have improved the most in the off season are the 49ers and the Cardinals. However, contending against the Rams and Seahawks shows that they have their work cut out.
I think the Seahawks will win the division, but one of the two underdogs will sneak into second ahead of the Rams.
NFC Sout
It looks like you forgot this one, Kaitlyn.
Well, Vick is going to jail. I definately have the Falcons last.
Third, I have the Bucs. Jeff Garcia did a great job picking up from where McNabb left off, but he can’t play on both sides of the ball. There offense will be improved, but they will be unable to get higher than third.
I have the Panthers as second. Their offense doesn’t have any huge threats, and there are too many holes in their game for them to contend with the Saints.
I have the Saints as first. What more do I have to say? Brees, Bush, I rest my case.
Funny Tope! I mean that you’ve only included NFC predictions. The NFC is moot anyway. Its whoever wins the AFC that will win the SB. SO, the AFC championship will be the real SB. Cincinnati over the Broncos. The rest is history.
wow, just wow. Lions have a better offense than the vikings? I think not. and Who is brandon jacobs? Have you not seen a Giants game from last year? He is a beast, speed and power. Also, lol @ the bronco’s beating out the chargers.
Some very good points in a short space I agree with most of it. However ther are some things I see a little differently first the Jets, I know that everyone has a small place in them that roots for the Jets but they won’t make the playoffs they can finish 2 in div but no wild card, to many strong teams in the AFC.
Baltimore is surrounded by ?? RB is a real potential problem, particularily with the Ravens running style and the caliber of defenses they will play this year.
Too many people have been overlooking the Steelers this season, I can totally see them stealing the wild card.
Much like the Cowboys the Chargers have a lot to prove after the last 2 seasons. Even with Norv at the helm, an fool can say LT win me the game.
I am sorry, but I will question the Philly heart, Mcnabb doesn’t impress in the clutch, and the Giants do have a very solid team. I like the Giants to walk in as 2 in div with the wild card.
As a side note I have noticed that the NFC East like the AFC North is a rivalry rife area. You can throw out the standings when they play. The teams in these divisions hate one another.
The NFC west is in turmoil, Seattle is fading fast, aging team won’t be in the playoff picture. The door is open for any one of the other teams to just take the division. Hopefully it doesn’t turn into a new NFC North.
Anyways as this is really long I will end here saying that I liked the post and will be looking forward to future posts.
in addition to earlier post, looking at the original post not the most recent.
Yeah you did forget the NFC South, but everyone better watch out for the Bucs again, they’re yuonger and Gruden finally has a west-coast offense QB. Carolina is getting old, other teams have or will figure out New Orleans, and finally the Atlanta Jailbirds will be weak, but any QB is better than Vick, you can’t win a possible RB playing 1st string QB!!!
I guess there should be some amendments. KC will be terrible, same goes for the Bears, Jacksonville will be better than you think and the Chargers coach themselves. Big Ben has looked rock solid in the new offense which relies more on his natural ability and flow of the game so the Steelers should challenge the Bengals for 2nd in the North. The Cardinals will be better than the 49ers and you forgot the NFC South. With that in mind I believe Drew Brees tanks this year and Carolina succeeds with David Carr.
Well atleast this is the 1st NFL season predictions that add up. My biggest frustration has been with the AFC west. Is anyone watching these games? Is anyone making any sense? KC is horrible, Larry Johnson or not your talking about 3 other divison rivals that all have good D. And the speaking of D, the Bronocos look disgusting on D. I hope they make a mircle work over there, SD is up in the air, I dont doubt they will place 1st or 2nd but ppl are predicting these guys to win the bowl, stop smoking that crack. Then you have the raiders who for the most part are being projected as in last place, Thats funny. KC is going to be swept, They split one with Denver and San Diego, and im being nice with splitting one with Denver. Then they have only 3 other tough teams to face, Chicago which is weak, Indy which prob wont care if they win by that deep into the season, and Jax which will prob steam roll the raiders. Detriot? Texans? Vickings? Dolphins? um flopped. Easy wins, you will all see Raiders 10-6
This is my first post
just saying HI
The Steelers #4 in the AFC North??? Still plenty of bruising linebackers here baby and Ward, Holmes, and Wilson are all really good recievers. Oh, and Willie Parker…need I say more. Week 3 and the Steelers are 3-0. I guess chicks really don’t know much about football
i hope you dont quit your day job ladies and if this is ur day job then you should be fired because your predictions couldnt be any further from the truth. great job ladies. seriously do a little more research. Former steelers coach Bill was 34 the same age as coach mike. We will have Polamalu, and an amazing defense, awesome coaches, Ward, miller, parker, big ben, and need i keep listing them. Our back ups are just as good as our starters. We are deep. Get your fact straight please. Or leave sports alone.
you missed a division
