The 49ers have no shot at the NFC West? Question marks, indeed.
Truly, I’ve gotten the idea to write thanks to two comments in my standings predictions post. No offense by them, but the undoubted love that is being given to the San Fransisco 49ers is absurd. I’m positive that Seattle or St. Louis will knock them off this season, as they have done for the past four years. My idea that the Rams would win the NFC West came from this article from another blog (Nikki’s boyfriend Troy’s blog). Just an excerpt from it:
What’s stated is that the 49ers are still really immature and aren’t even half ready to take control of the NFC West division. It’s obvious that they’re still a year away as Alex Smith still needs more time to grow, and he’s without his silver spoon-man in Norv Turner. Quite frankly, paying a cornerback $80 million bucks isn’t worth it neither. I think the Rams improvements were highly more worthwhile than what the 49ers have done this season as the Rams have added guys like Bennett, McMichael, [Dante and James] Hall. And I’m not done. While it may look as if they have only added guys to their offense (albeit I did add James Hall — who is a defensive end.) They have added to their defense with Adam Carriker, Jonathan Wade, and Todd Johnson. (to special teams.) Carriker and Wade may be Rookies, but they are fierce, competitive, and are bound to become good players. The problem I see is rookies being jammed up on the interior of the Rams d-line.
As the off-season goes on, I’ll add more opinions.
One last note, these guys are idiots. I stopped watching when they mentioned that the Rams just had a decent QB.

Eat your heart out, Yankees fans!
With a little work and a 3-second effort, I found this video on Funny or Die’s website. And then had to go over to YouTube to get the code to post it on here. Oh, the video is over Roger Clemens trying to return to the Yankees in 2057. Enjoy.

The Sports Chicks Weekly Roundup!
Hey everyone, Kaitlyn here again. For the next couple of weeks I’m going to try and write a weekly roundup each Sunday on the happenings in sports and my opinion surrounding the topic. The good thing is that my friend and co-admin Nikki and I will both trade over on who is writing the roundup each Sunday, which will help out both of us, and will keep the blog activity running high. Let’s get this going!
Sosa blasts No. 600
I’ve never been a baseball fan to the max. I’ve always watched it here and there. But everyone who has actually paid the least bit of attention since 1998 know Sammy Sosa. McGwire and Sosa’s homerun chase sent waves throughout the world signaling Baseball is Back. It seems to me that not many people appreciate what he does for the sport! Slammin’ Sammy is a humble player of the game of baseball and plays with dignity and pride. If only people spent more time celebrating this wonderful achievement instead of questioning and debating with others over if he should make the hall of fame or not. That should chill off.
Pacman Jones, what happened?
Again, Adam Jones has gotten into trouble with the law (as if he hasn’t gotten in enough trouble already) and is facing two felony charges for a melee that happened where? You guessed it! A strip club. I guess it’s the fun time that Pacman has that gets him going to want to continue to spend his time with his friends that have nothing to lose, while he could be protecting his investment and holding up his priorities. It’s bad enough that he’s suspended for the entire NFL season. But now the whole arrangement has gone downhill now that he is into even more trouble.
Kobe Bryant.. Traded?
Wake me up when Kobe is traded. I am practically clogging my ears and batting my eyelashes at the mediocrity of this. The last time I heard him talk, he said I’m a Laker for Life. It’s more like I’m a Laker for Life if Kupchak brings in some players because I can’t lead a team on my own. I despise this man for what he did in 2003 at a Colorado hotel, and despise him even more for turning the back on the organization that was behind his back through the hard times he had following the rape allegations. I’m absolutely disgusted by his bombastic actions.
That’s it for the Weekly Roundup. If you have any suggestions/comments/rants/or anything at all, feel free to drop a comment here or send us an e-mail at thesportschicks@hotmail.com

2007-2008 NFL Standing Predictions
Just some of my quick predictions for the 07-08 NFL season! The depth is lacked, but more explaining will do throughout as the NFL season doesn’t start till September!
AFC East
1. New England Patriots (this is truly a no-brainer. Their offense is their defense, and Tom Brady is their quarterback.)
2. New York Jets (They were a playoff team last year. They will be this year.)
3. Buffalo Bills (Losman is finally getting his feet wet as the QB)
4. Miami Dolphins (Defense won’t be able to carry them, and neither will John Beck)
AFC North
1. Baltimore Ravens (theres no reason they should be lower. They instantly made their offense better over the offseason with the Mcgahee addition and Ray Lewis is determined.)
2.) Cincinnati Bengals (jailcats, losing Tory James, and look out for Carson Palmer. The first 2 were meant to be bad judgements.)
3.) Cleveland Browns (everyone is preaching that Brady will be a bust. He has the QB poise and the IQ, not to mention he’s dead sexy.)
4.) Pittsburgh Steelers (Lost their bruiser LB, head coach, only has 1 threatening wide out, and aren’t the same team from 2004-2006)
AFC South
1.) Indianapolis Colts (who else?)
2.) Tennessee Titans (Vince Young is unstoppable when he’s in the mode)
3.) Jacksonville Jaguars (QB situation. How are you going to fix it?)
4.) Houston Texans (Nothing new here.)
AFC West
1. Denver Broncos (they had a great offseason and Cutler can only get better..)
2. San Diego Chargers (one reason I have them 2nd: Norv Turner)
3. Oakland Raiders (um, they have to improve a bit over the team that’s last..)
4. Kansas City Chiefs (down, down, down!)
NFC East
1. Dallas Cowboys (more talent than the rest of their division)
2. Philadelphia Eagles (who? Oh yea, McNabb has to step up and have a big year or maybe Kevin Kolb will!)
3. New York Giants (no Tiki. Who is Brandon Jacobs?)
4. Washington Redskins (Campbell won’t be able to lead this team to the playoffs)
NFC North
1. Chicago Bears (the only downside is Rex Grossman)
2. Green Bay Packers (this team is bad, but still better than the Vikings or Lions)
3. Detroit Lions (their offense is a lot better than Minnesota’s)
4. Minnesota Vikings (Tavares Jackson is young and un-wise)
NFC West
1. St. Louis Rams (the sexiest offense in the whole NFL. They aren’t one to joke with)
2. Seattle Seahawks (they have a great QB and RB. Their defensive backs and Linebacker core is great too!)
3. San Fransisco 49ers (so they have an overpaid CB now. They still need veteran work!)
4. Arizona Cardinals (same song)
That was probably the worst thing you have ever read in your life. But thanks for taking the time to do it!
